What Is a Portable Spot Welding Machine?

Portable Spot Welding Machine is a machine that uses arc welding technology to join various metals with little or no jointing involved. Through constant heating and application of heat to the joining spot, portable spot welding machines are able to bond multiple metal sheets simultaneously. The term portable in this welding technique refers to the joining spot where the heat and pressure applied are transmitted. Electrode contacts in a mounted spot welder usually are made from ferrous or aluminum metal. To start welding, the conductors are placed between the electrodes and then mounted onto the die. Depending on the type of electrode contacts that are used, the current will either be direct or alternating. This is determined by the shape of the coil and the material that are to be welded.

Portable welders that can work in high tensile environments are commonly known as MIG welders. These machines feature a special shearing attachment provided with the base and the feeders that are used for connecting and welding pieces of metal. The shearing action applied to the metal ensures that the joints are strong and will not break under stress. To weld thin materials such as thin sheets of aluminum or mild steel, the MIG welding machines are known to offer higher performance.
